Hi there! I’m Heather McNeil, a registered physiotherapist and yoga instructor. I graduated from McMaster University with a Master of Science in Physical Therapy in 2012. Since graduating I have worked primarily with people who have sports injuries, repetitive use injuries, and ongoing pain and dysfunction. I have also spent time working at Kelowna General Hospital with those who have had fractures, joint replacements, and spinal surgeries.
I have taken various ongoing education courses, most notably I am certified in Acupuncture through Acupuncture Canada and am working my way to a specialty in Manual Therapy (specific hands on assessment and treatment) through the Orthopaedic Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association.
As an avid yogi since 2008 I did a 200hr Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) in 2014 and have been teaching private and group sessions ever since. The physical practice of yoga is amazing to build body awareness and appreciation while the philosophical side is incredibly powerful for building a framework for successful healing/living a healthy lifestyle that considers mind, body, and spirit.
I have always been curious about what makes the body work and not work and the factors that play into optimal overall health. In school I was very often described as ‘holistic’ and I love this. Health is a multifaceted thing and I have noticed in my practice that those who take a vested interest in an overall healthy lifestyle consistently achieve their goals quite quickly.
I strive to make a thoughtful and productive connection with each patient and thrive on doing a thorough assessment so that together we can establish a well-directed treatment plan that addresses patient goals and gets to the heart of the issue. Also knowledge is power! I’ll teach you everything you need to know about your injury/issue/concern and am available by email if anything isn’t clear after the appointment.
